Bouncing on a trampoline 5 weeks out?

Recommended Posts

Some friends are going to play trampoline dodge ball tonight. On the one hand, it sounds like fun, but on the other hand, I'm not even 6 weeks post-op. Think I've healed enough to bounce around on trampolines?

Note: I don't have stitches anymore. They either dissolved or the skin is healed over. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I think she was referring to the stitches on your new sleeved pouch.

I would say to early for that. Wait at least to 6 weeks and ask your surgeon for clearance. Better to be safe than sorry.

Internal stitches. I was very anxious to get back to my exercise routine and martial arts. I was not allowed to do any jumping or spinning kicks until 8 weeks out and my doc laughed when I asked about our trampoline.

I think you should wait a little bit more. I have to admit though it sounds really really fun!!! I have been thinking about looking for one of those places that you can exercise on trampolines. I think you can get a great workout doing it and laugh at the same time. :)

Yeah, I see my surgeon on Monday for my 6-week follow-up anyways, so I'll talk to him about exercising (more than walking) then. Not worth jiggling organs around, though I'll have to do it next time my friends go, it sounds awesome.

Plus, the skin around my abdomen is really loose, so I don't know if it would just shake all over the place or what. It used to be firm, but not anymore. (TMI?)

Haha I didn't even think about the skin! For me it would involve more than just skin! LOL I would do it anyway!! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
