Sleeved aug. 26th...

Recommended Posts

And i'm in the pureed stage until oct. 10; I feel so good (with exception of the exhaustion) that it feels like I didn't even get sleeved- I am anxious to move on to soft foods...I have been battling hunger and cravings- and i'm losing weight slowly; not getting as much exercise as I should- but I feel so weak- day of surgery i weighed 197; at my check-up yesterday I was 179- i'd love to see 140 on the scale; anyone else sleeved the same day or close to it and want to share their experience?

Wow. I was sleeved on the 28th. I was able to go to soft foods on week 4post op. Now that said, my new stomach really prefers shakes, yogurt type foods so that is what I plan for Breakfast and lunch, but at dinner I will have Protein that is okay in the soft phase. I've had Fish, shrimp, tuna, eggs, chicken thighs. I'm only able to eat 3 oz very slowly. I can also manage melons, and grapes, a bite or two of banana. You will definitely feel full once you start getting into more solid foods. I'm not hungry at all. If anything I have to tell myself to eat to be sure to get my 60gms of protein in. Now that said, I have had moments of head hunger (cravings) even though I'm not hungry. Hang in there. It's an adventure. I was 221 pre-op and I'm 204 today. So were about at the same place.

I was sleeved on the 26th as well. Including pre op diet I've lost about 32 pounds. I feel great physically, on puréed/mushy food for one more week and two days. I've been exercising every day and my calories stay under 800 most days. They are telling me at the doctors office to exercise a little less (!!!) and eat a little more which cracks me up! But I do notice a better loss when I follow those instructions. Looking forward to being released to all food--the purées don't keep me full longer than 2-3 hours.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
