So my husband and i are going to be sleeved on monday! we're talking about future food plans and i think we're a little confused.... When you're a few months out..... Can you eat "normal" food, just smaller portions? When i look on here at recipes, they all seem "different".... Like reacing all carbs with wonton wrappers...... Im willing to try that but he is not so adventurous..... He imagines going from a basket of chips and a whole burrito, rice and Beans at the the meexican restaurant to just half a burrito..... Wondering how much and what can you eat a few to several months out? thanksgiving? One small slice of turkey and one small scoop of potatos? Thanks for any input:)

I think it's a personal choice how you want to reach your goal weight and live with your sleeve. Some people choose not to eat things because they're trigger foods, others avoid carbs because they want to reach goal as quickly as possible, some cut out foods completely that their new tummies don't tolerate and cause them to feel ill. I have a personal friend that barely worked out and never denied herself a bite or two of anything she craved and is trying to stop losing weight. She is 5' 8" SW: 280 CW: 140. It's a very personal journey that I've noticed most people modify to their own personal standards/justifications.

Imagine taking whatever you're eating and grinding it up and putting it in a measuring cup... At 6 months out I can eat 3/4 of a cup of MOST foods. Some things tend to make me feel more full than others.. Tortilla chips really fill me up.. but for other people they're a slider. Also cashews and hard boiled eggs fill me more than I would expect based on their volume.My sleeve is slightly larger than the average due to having a longer than normal stomach

yep, it is a personal choice.. most anything in moderation is ok.. just know your trigger foods and do not keep those in your house. you will love how quickly you fill up, at least i do.. I still eat most of the foods i like but just very small amounts.. you will need to eat slower and chew more so you can tell when to stop eating.. you dont want to overeat. it is very uncomfortable and can make you sick.. again this is a good thing for me.. keeps me in check :) 10/16 will be a year for me.. lost about 100 lbs,, need another 30 .. Loving my sleeve

They say your maximum loss occurs in the first 18 mos so some people really restrict calories and carbs to maximize loss. My Dr recommends doing that to avoid getting stuck not reaching goal and slipping back. It is a personal choice.

We try to eat close to plan but find ourselves going to restaurants and either splitting a dish or expecting leftovers. Up until month 3 my portion sizes were about 2/3 of my hubby's and he is almost 4 weeks behind me. Just the differences in how sleeves tolerate similar foods. Now I am up to 2.5 to 3 ounces of lean Protein and I haven't found much that I don't tolerate, same thing with the hubs. chicken fills me up quicker than steak or pork and I naturally eat more chicken. Just take time and before long you can make the choices of what you want to put in your mouth. My "rule" is to avoid extra carbs when I am at home no bread or Pasta etc. but when we go out if I want to taste the bread that one bite will be okay, I just make sure I am good calorie wise for the day!

Good luck on your adventure together I will tell you the month between my sleeve and my husbands he couldn't relate and now it is a common topic for us.

      Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
