Your Nut should have given you a "grocery list"...definitely need Vitamins, Protein Drinks, clear liquids...that's about all I could handle...and I was doing good to get all of my fluids in at first.

Toilet wipes. Almost everyone has diarrhea the first few days. Might want to consider powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Protein. It's the only one I could tolerate the first week after surgery. It has to be ordered online.

Thanks! I will order some. I wasn't sure because it seems very mixed as to whether I will be able to eat anything or not. I don't see my nut until the day before surgery because our schedules conflict.

What do I need on hand for the first week? Vitamins? supplements? Did anyone really eat (post op diet eat) the first week?

A big bottle of chewable tums, adult liquid Tylenol and lots of chicken broth.< /p>

Ditto on the chicken broth. My biggest must have was my heating pad. Worked wonders for me!

Liquid Tylenol, chewable Gas-x (works great for getting gas bubbles to come out. chicken broth, crystal light, Protein Shakes. My NUT allowed yogurt the first week, so plain low sugar yogurt, sugar free popcicles, sugar free fudgecicles, sugar free Jello and pudding. sugar free hard candies (they are nice to suck on when you want to taste something).

Hard candy!!! That sounds like a great idea for any after taste I may incur. I would love to be able to have yogurt as well. Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
