Buzza 1 Posted September 28, 2013 Started my process of wls in August 2013. In June of 2013 I was working with my Pcp with weightloss till Aug and she suggested the surgery. My insurance requires 6 months of supervised diet. Well, thought about the other day way should my pcp visit count? Called the weightloss clinic they said NO it all has to be here. Called my insurance they said absolutely it counts. What do you think??? I go back to my nut on Oct.7th talk about it then.
SeaLegs 38 Posted September 28, 2013 I think the way it works is that the clinic is worried that they won't get reimbursement by the insurance company and they want everything in a tidy little package (or maybe they want to get paid for the supervised diet vists, too). I've run into this with other aspects of my preop stuff. You've done some really good and valid work. You might need to go higher up in the food chain of the clinic and have someone call the insurer. Otherwise, is there another game in town? Can your PCP help you by sending a letter or electronic record (and maybe threatening to refer elsewhere)? I am a nurse and hate it when the individual needs of a patient are thwarted by corporate and insurance stuff...grrrr....
Buzza 1 Posted September 28, 2013 Thank you for responding!! I have an appointment @ the weightloss clinic 10/7 will talk to them then. as far as my PCP she is fantastic and will write any letter I ask for. I would really like to move the process along along because of the Obama Care, that's coming up, also not sure what my deductible will be for my insurance in 2014. Right now it's $1200. God, only knows how much it will go up. Thank you again!!
