Wow 71 pounds gone in 2 months post op

Recommended Posts

As far as my diet goes I work deep nights 12 hour shifts so my food choices aren't the regular ones. I will eat a lot of Protein through out the night while I'm working. I may bake pork chops or chicken and I take it to work for the next 3 days, and eat off that until I'm done. I will make a side, just what ever I want sometimes it may be potato salad with more protein in it. Some times for Snacks I will eat the special K chips or the Quaker popped rice snacks. I still eat pizza either home made or from dominoes my favorite. I don't have the healthiest meals I know but at most meals I can't even finish a whole slice of pizza, I can't eat more than 2 hot wings , when I eat my meals I take weekly, I don't even eat the whole piece of meat in one setting it takes me all night to finish out a couple of pieces. When I eat my sides its a couple spoonfuls. I have no secret except that I'm just eating what I want and smaller portions of it. I have still had days or weeks of stalls. I believe my body gets all the credit here . I know my results aren't typical but at least 32 of the pounds I lost were in pre op diet stage.

So if you are feeling down or bad about your loss don't because our body's are so different. At work I stay very active and I'm doing a lot of walking, and it appears to help out a lot. I know I need to get back in to the gym to keep my muscles strong but memberships are very expensive these days so I'm waiting on that. Just like everyone I have always had a weight problem and I have struggled with every type of diet , exercise program, you name it I was a pro at it but I couldn't keep the weight off. I lost weight fast then only to fail months or years later. I'm not sure if this time will be permanent or better than before. I'm praying that everything works out for myself and everyone of you that fight this war everyday with me. All praise to God for keeping us strong during our times of need. If I could wave a magic wand we would all be healthy. So please keep trying your hardest and don't give up. Thank you everyone for all your support.

Sleeved on 6/25...I am down 73 total, 24 of this was preop. My bmi is improving. My land were good except my Iron is low and I need to raise my good cholesterol. Loosing some hair, but thankfully my hair is thick so not a problem yet. Feel pretty good other then a little fatigue from the Iron. Cold a lot which is strange to me since I used to get hot real easy. But again That is a side effect of low iron. Feeling pretty good about things. Definitely glad I did this.

Hi I know how you feel there are some days where I'm freezing to death and its not even that cold out. I shave my head bald and have done so for years so I'm not worried about the Hair loss don't know if I would have any at this point. Your weight loss is awesome you were just about a lil over a month before me. My wife had her surgery on 07/01/2013 and she was smoking me in the beginning but now I'm in the lead of our own weight loss challenge. I'm happy I had the sleeve but fear this may not be enough. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Fred...I think you're screwing with the statistics a bit by making such good progress! I was sleeved the day after you and have lost no where near that amount in spite of my rigor in sticking to the plan.

Before someone jumps in here to "fuss" at me for comparing our losses to each other, let me just say I am pointing these differences out NOT to rue the fact that I'm losing slower but rather to show just how different [not at all a negative] we all are. Not only am I thrilled with my own losses but am also thrilled for you, Fred, for your awesome losses! In my opinion, we are BOTH succeeding in our journeys.

Congrats on your awesome progress!

You are right our body's are so different, and medical conditions as well. I'm 35 years old and had a lot of successful weight loss journeys but I could never keep it off. I'm praying and trying my best to ensure that I don't gain back any of the weight I have lost. The major difference with the sleeve is my portions are under control and I don't have that inside struggle to keep overeating. Its really hard because I have been an emotional eater and now I work out all my problems instead of eating them away like before. It's amazing how after only 8 weeks my lifestyle has changed by fixing a few behavioral problems. God is good.

Wtg!! I'm 12 wks and have lost 18 lbs. Whoopty doo. I now feel embarrassed...

You shouldn't feel embarrassed loosing slow doesn't mean your doing anything wrong it's just our body's and how they react. I know how you feel but my biggest problem is fear that since I'm loosing I may gain it all back because I have always had good results with loosing weight none in keeping it off. I'm just doing my best and my body is doing the rest. Please don't give up and keep at it.

Marfar7- hang in there. Keep following the plan. The loss will come. We all started with different sizes and conditions and all will lose at diff rates. I have had moments of frustration but then the loss comes or inches come off. Take measurements when you don't see numbers you want. ..it often is still dropping there

Thank you for pointing out that its not all about pounds that we see coming off but it is also about inches and our health. The biggest selling point of course is how much weight will I loose or how fast will it come off but we just don't know until we get in there and start our journeys. I wish the very best for everyone. We are all in this together.

Losing a little slower is good because your skin had s better chance to keep up with the changes in your body

I believe that may be a myth.

You're right, it is a myht. Hanging skin has all to do with heredity and age rather than how fast u lose it. Most of us with over 100 lbs to lose will have some hanging skin (thankfully mine is minimal, thank you mom and dad). There's no magic potions, lotions, or exercises that will decrease it.

It is what it is.

Fred, congratulations! That's amazing! I can't yet imagine what kind of changes a 71 pound loss would make....Good job!

I am so happy (okay, a little jealous too) to see such great results from you all who are losing quickly........and just as happy to see fellow "slow losers" results as well......

As said before, we lose at our own pace......celebrate those losses no matter how big/small.

Anyway, great job, Fred.....that's exciting!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
