I drink a glass or so of coke zero in a week. I have No problems with it. I can eat pretty much everything except salad (which I miss )and milk.

I just only eat a few bites then I'm full. I was sleeved 3-25-2013 I'm down 70lbs!

Salad was hard for me too but the ability to eat it will return. For me it was at about 5 months. Still can't do green pepper raw but most other salad fix ins do well. I now find that salad aids the digestion of meat for me and also helps digest heavy stuff like potato (in small amounts). As far as my skeletons. I have none. My goal from day one has been to eat like a "normal" person. My weight loss has been slower but I'm banking on it being permanent. So i do indulge in the occasional cheese cracker or cookie. I guess I"m just trying to do things differently now and don't want to go down that deprivation to over indulgence route that has been my modus operandi in the past.

Wondering if this is a serious thread of not but here goes:

I drink a lot of alcohol in one sitting.

I don't exercise (my skin looks pretty okay)

I am beginning to feel my bulimia rear it's ugly head again and consume my life.

I'm scared to confess this to my doctor and get actual help so I pretend like everything is okay when it's not

Alk to your doctor or someone, u worked so hard

I've loved this thread! Read all 36 pages! LOL! How's everyone doing now?

P.S. Reading this thread while doing my two weeks of Clear liquids (plus Protein shakes) was a little brutal, but the entertainment value was with the pain!

How's everyone now??

I love this page because it's real and I don't feel so alone. When can I eat popcorn again. I miss it so much!! I will be starting 3rd week post op. Tried to drink a tall iced coffee today. My tummy got mad. I'm learning slowly that my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I order big and then have to throw it away. I guess that's my brain. Keep this page going please!!!

1 week post OP my husband, son and I went shopping at our local Sam's club. Before surgery we would all get a hot dog meal which include a 1/4 lb hotdog w/bun and a 32oz drink. Well, I had packed myself the good ol Protein shake and like a hungry dog watched them eat their meals....then out of the blue i say very seriously and quite loudly to my husband "can i lick your hotdog??"

Omg. The look on his face and the faces of the surrounding patrons was enough to make us bust up laughing. I did not get to taste the Nathan's 1/4 hotdog that day, but just a week ago I was able to have a couple bites. Which didn't sit well anyway.

I didn't follow the pre-op liquid diet that my surgeon makes everyone do for two full weeks. Not at all. I couldnt do it. I woke up everyday saying that I was going to stick to my surgeons plan, and everyday I ended up binging like crazy. I'd be good all day, and then after work I'd run to burger king and order a double whopper with cheese, large chocolate shake and onion rings, ten piece chicken nugget, and large coke. One day I went to the Chinese place and ordered TWO full meals and ate them both within an hour. I also consumed an 8piece bucket of fried chicken alone, followed by a pint of Ben and Jerry's. It was my worst two weeks, and was when I realized I needed the surgery more than ever. I was out of control. I somehow managed to stick to Clear Liquids the very last day before my surgery, and the surgeon didn't mention anything about my liver being too large and I have had a very successful surgery and weight loss (at least, I believe so).

Phew, feels good to get that off of my chest after all this time :D

@mmazzo. Good question! Where are all those folks who just days after surgery were partaking into some really scary habitual eating. Did they reach goal (within normal BMI range)? Have they maintained weight loss? Are they dead? Lots of slippery slope behavior documented here.

Love this thread.

My confession: first week back at work I had to go on a business trip. I was booked into a Doubletree and before I realized what was happening they had thrust a warm chocolate chip cookie in my hand. I went straight to my room and ate it slowly and secretly! Worth every bite--but I don't stay at Doubletrees anymore!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
