I made chocolate chip pumpkin bread while on my pre-op diet. I rationalized it by the fact that it was pumpkin bread, so healthy (not true)! ... Made it worse as I then only ate the chocolate chips...!

first let me say I'm pre-op so I'm not in any danger of serious harm, so today I over slept and did not take my lunch, I ordered out , I order domino's (because they deliver and I have no car) chicken alfredo w/ bacon and onions in a bread bowl, all I can say is I'm miserably. I'm too full and sleepy. So that is my confession.

Every week, every day, every meal, every bite of food--making the best choiceat all times takes tremendous amount of practice, patience and compassion. Think of pre-op as a kind of having your 'training wheels' on. You are learning so much about yourself every day. It's all great practice and no mistake goes to waste (but it might go to waist) Hit the re-set button, and start again. best wishes

Specolous?

Tis also known as cookie butter. Tastes like cookie but with almond butter texture.

Specolous?

Speculoos is purchased at Trader Joes, I'm not sure where else. I just mentioned Biscoff cookie spread in another thread, it's pretty much the same thing. Super sinfully yummy. Not on our prescribed eating plan, for sure!

Woo! I'm waiting to get my sleeve and I want to follow the diet plan to a T... Would it be bad for me to start dieting like 4 weeks before my surgery? I mean like... liquid diet. Lol. I want to drop at least 15-25lbs more before my sleeve.

No, not al all. In fact, losing a little might improve surgery and the recovery process. Both my wife and I started dieting (not liquid diet tho') before surgery date. I lost 30 during the 6 weeks proceeding and she lost about 15 one month before. Glad to hear you are going to follow to a T. I am blown away by some of the cheat stories on this thread.

I think you should take more then 4 days off for recovery. I took 3 weeks off because it took that long to feel normal enough to work most of the day. Minimum would probably be 2 weeks if you can. Sorry for the thread hijack. Now back to normal programming, confessions .... :)

I started a month before I had to. Didn't do liquid, but I did 1 Protein Shake a day, broth based Soup and salad for lunch, veggies and Protein for dinner. I stayed under 1500 calories and lost 20 pre-op.

I started two weeks before my liquid diet cutting out carbs, sugars and most fat. Ate protien bars "quest", Protein Shakes and lean meat. Helped me when I had Togo to the liquid phase. Good luck.

My NUT had me on a 1200 cal. diet with basically a diabetic diet for 8 weeks prior to surgery. I also had to start no drinking while eating. Soooo glad I did that, because its quite an adjustment in my opinion. (I used to guzzle down 2-3 diet comes and a glass of Water at dinner each night back before I gave up pop.)

Also- Confession...I had a shot of Gentleman Jack this weekend. I think that is what caused me to crave doughnuts and ended up caving a day later and ate 4 Nickles donut fair doughnuts :/ I felt like total crap afterward too (though not after drinking lol).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
