RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted September 27, 2013 I had my team look into liquid meds for me at first but it was not too long and I was able to take the pills again....The Vitamins can be a real pain..Look for the highest doses with the smallest tablets...or chewables... DorothyGale 8 Posted September 28, 2013 My doctor had me on pain meds in pill form before I was even discharged from the hospital. The first week or so, it felt strange to swallow pills as I could literally feel them hit my stomach, which was a new and odd sensation, but that quickly subsided. I think you will probably find that you will do fine with them after the first few weeks.
marfar7 1,533 Posted September 28, 2013 I had no problems swallowing my pills. I didn't take my Gabapentin for a couple wks cuz its a horse pill but I took everything else without problems. U may not be able to down 10 pills at once (I used to, now I swallow 3-4, don't want to risk it) My post op pain meds was liquid Vicodin. Wish it had been a pill. Tastes nasty.... Good luck
Tiny One 223 Posted September 28, 2013 My doc had me on liquid pain meds & the other pills I had to break up & eat with sugar free applesauce for first 3 weeks. Told me not to swallow anything hard or solid.
Macy6 356 Posted September 28, 2013 I took regular pills from day 2 post op. I was even allowed Bupropion XL (which is an extended release but not broken down with stomach acid) I would just ask your surgeon what they want you to do.
