cpeycke 16 Posted September 27, 2013 Anyone have any info on what happens to the staples long term after surgery? Just curious if they are know to cause problem later, or if they stretch and break? I don't know any info on how the body deals with them not only right after the surgery but years later. Is there less or more likely "leaking" over time ect? Thanks!!! 1 Melissa1234 reacted to this
RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted September 27, 2013 They are Titanium and will stay in your body forever..This will not be an issue as your stomach heals around them..They are light and totally okay with your bodies makeup....Same thing planes are made of..lol...So we can fly too.....And we are in a sense....upward and forward in our new lives.... 7 lrs, Arts137, hopeliveshere and 4 others reacted to this

endless80 697 Posted September 27, 2013 Educated people who overuse the word 'actually' in presentations really bother me. Informative video though. Interesting to know what's inside of me. 3 mlowell, sixbuttons and Laure reacted to this

potpieiii 19 Posted September 27, 2013 It's interesting you bring this up now. I just had a conversation with my grandpa yesterday and this came up. He had a version of this same surgery but in 1971 and for totally different reasons. (Back then, they did this surgery as a treatment for extremely bad ulcers. And of course it wasn't laparoscopic either.) But he had the same titanium staples ever since then, and never a single problem. He just recently had an issue where he had to have images taken of his stomach, and his doctor today told him the staples look just as good now as they would if this was a recent surgery. 2 sonya139 and sixbuttons reacted to this
