Waiting is really getting to me

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow sleevers. I have turned to the boards for words of encouragement and advice. When I started this journey the 20th of August I was certain I would be getting sleeved by September 26th which would be tomorrow but I am still playing the waiting game with my surgeons office and everyday that goes by I get more and more discouraged!! After my first appointment with the doctor I was so certain I would be approved no problem and began planning my new life and constantly talking about it with my BMI of 40 and my insurance BCBSIL i was certain approval would be easy and I was ecstatic when they verified I didn't need the 6 month diet. I also recently got a letter of medical necessity from my PCP but the wait is killing me i am now looking at a october 17th surgery at the earliest! I know it sounds selfish because some are not even able to get the surgery but I'm so ready to start my new life. One question though my insurance coordinator put on the paper I need a five year weight history and 12 months office notes?? I only have three years as I have only been with this doctor for three years and my doc in ohio states they do not have any records of mine on file and I don't need a supervised diet so what is the 12 month charts notes for?? Any words of advice or encouragement would be so helpful as I am beginning to feel discouraged with the waiting!

I understand...part of it is the waiting game. Looks like we started about the same time... I'm also hoping for surgery mid-October. I was pre-approved by Horizon BCBS but it was conditional. I had do three consecutive office visits with the doctor office, one with the surgeon, and the other two with the NUT & Psych...and of course pass all the medical tests. Had my last stress test today and won't know much else until I get to the doctor and last NUT appt next week. It is going to drive me crazy until then..I still think something is going to pop up and come along and say...nope..you have to wait for such and such and such..which will be sometime off in the future..

Guess we have to keep our fingers crossed..and hope for the best..and for time to go quickly.

Ur doc in ohio is either gonna find ur records or face charges & a complaint to the medical board. By law they have to keep old records for 7 years from last visit.

Push their buttons- or u can make some of ur own. Not 100% legit though.

allons-y

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
