new_me_2013 46 Posted September 26, 2013 I'm 15 days post op, feeling great, back to work but ever since my catheter was removed after surgery I felt like I was getting a UTI. It went away then came back with a vengeance! Dr gave me cipro to take 2 x a day. My question is has this happened to anyone else & will this antibiotic effect my weight loss? I'm thankful for the treatment but I've been doing do well on pre-op diet & post op ( down 40lbs) thanks!
Chelsi 107 Posted September 26, 2013 i actually had a uti before and while i was in the hospital and they were giving me antibiotics the day of and day after surgery. from there i took it for two days at home, and i lost 13lbs, but that was the first week after surgery. i think you should be fine. congrats on the 40lbs! 1 new_me_2013 reacted to this
new_me_2013 46 Posted September 26, 2013 I wish they would have given me some antibiotics in the hospital!! I felt it as soon as the catheter came out...ugh. Congrats to you too! Are u feeling good so far?
IdahoGirl32 89 Posted September 26, 2013 Yep, this exact thing happened to me when I had surgery for appendicitis. I haven't been sleeved yet. When they took the catheter out, I got a UTI. It was horrible. The cipro will fix it. I don't think it'll affect your weight loss. 1 new_me_2013 reacted to this
new_me_2013 46 Posted September 26, 2013 Thanks Idaho, my Dr said it was very common. I wouldn't wish this on anyone! Good luck on your journey! It's the best thing I've ever done, wish I would have done it sooner. This UTI is my 1 & only complaint!

Are u feeling good so far? I got lucky and didn't get a catheter (I had my period and I guess my surgeon wasn't too concerned, I used the bathroom two hours after surgery), I didn't even know I had a UTI before the surgery. They totally surprised me when pre-op called saying so, I had no symptoms! But I'm feeling really good. I'm still sore, but the gas pains are mostly gone and those were the worst! 1 new_me_2013 reacted to this
