I have heard possible cons to drinking carbonation post sleeve. I tried a sip the other day- a VERY small sip- and thought I would die! The pain was so bad!!!

I'm told it has more caffeine than coffee by people who love it...mabe that's part of it. You could stir it until the fizz goes out, like some people do with ginger ale.

I can relate. I gave up my beloved Pellegrino Water. I absolutely adore it. I gave it up way back in February and have not looked back until....one day about a month ago I could not stop thinking about it, craving it and thinking about how much I loved it. Lasted all day long and I was not sure I was going to make it. Probably had it not been for the fact that I have not puked, slimed or otherwise since my March surgery, I may very well have caved in. Pretty sure it was the grace of God that got me through.

I was fine the next day but jeez, it was a close one!

Hang in there, you can do it! I was told it wouldn't be easy and sometimes its not.

I've been sleeved for almost 3 weeks now and I asked my doctor about carbonation just yesterday. He said "if it hurts, don't drink it- otherwise enjoy". He said he tells people to stay away from it a lot because they want people to avoid sugary sodas. I like seltzer Water and it's nice to know I can have it again if I want to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
