I just got back from 2 weeks in Paris, where I felt like the most enormous and dumpy thing on the street for wearing too big loose-fit boot cut jeans nearly every day.

So before I even left for home I ordered two styles of skinny Levis from Amazon, which were just delivered. And guess whose fat ass fits into a size 12 skinny jeans? Yup. ME!

I'm still bigger than all the size 0 Parisians I saw but at least I'm fashionable. ;-)

so the paris trip went well? I know you were concerned about how you'd manage this close to the surgery etc.

Thanks for asking!

Paris was great, the eating was a bit of an issue. They don't do many processed foods over there and I had a hard time sticking to my surgeon's soft food orders. I ate a lot of eggs, cheeses, yogurt, and Atkins bars then made the mistake of having a bite of a palmier pastry - my husband decided he was going to eat one every day (he's 6'3" and has always been skinny). I had a couple of bites the next day and then the next until I ate an entire one on the flight home. Bad Lisa!

I tried some bread and some wine but didn't have any desire for them (thank god!).

The bad part was finding out I *could* eat pretty much anything. I don't think I'll confess that at my 3-month checkin! The good part is that today I'm 5 lbs. less than when we left. The other bad part was thinking I looked good and getting over there to find I was too big for even XL in French clothing. Rather disconcerting. No plans to move there anytime soon! :-D

Skinny Jeans! love them. Whenever I wear regular boot cut jeans they look so baggy especially the butt, that I don't feel or look very good in them. Put on a pair of skinny jeans and bam, they fit and I feel good. I do have to pull them up a bit after wearing all day. In a size 16, which I am ready to go into the 14s. I have been in love the Rockstar from Old Navy, their only $25 and they come in all colors and they have a bit of a stretch to them which would have been good for when I was bigger, but now I am finding the stretch helps hug my curves better.. I am going to check out they Levi's brand though. If anyone else has a favorite skinny jean please post.

And here I was proud of getting into my size 16 skinnies and knee boots! I do wear tunics and looser cut sweaters over them - I still have too much of a tummy to be totally comfortable otherwise. But it's so nice to be wearing a size I haven't worn in several years!

Hey Spacedust - nothing I say can take away from the great work you're doing! You *should* be proud. :-)

I've never had knee boots, so you're way up on me there!

Lol you are too funny my weight was 278 on June 10 which started my two week pre op on sx day 6/24 I was 262. Almost 4 months out I am 221 lbs. I found a pair of 13/14 jeans in my room that a friend had given my daughter who wears a 16. I clearly used to wear a 22. Just like you, I said I can't get this fat ass in those jeans. But guess my ass fooled me because iput them on without "sucking" that stomach which I still have to get down some more but they fit perfectly and gave me a booty lift (only in those jeans lol). But that inspires me so much. And you keep up the good work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
