rcc 13 Posted September 25, 2013 hi all i am a 49 year old man in the UK (cheltenham Gloucestershire) with very little support and this website forum is a godsend..i have been on this battle all my life and at my heaviest was around 38 stone..i lost big chunks of weight and it always started to creep back on so 3 years ago after a relationship break up it was a lightbulb above the head moment and i decided i had had enough of being the fat bloke every one stared at and decided on wls and after 3 years struggle i have at last got my surgery date of October the 9th 2013 !!.. i have been on an 800 calorie a day diet for the last 2 weeks and have lost another 17lb but would not break that diet as too scared to eat as the nerves are beginning to creep in and yes a little doubt but i know without the vsg barrier the weight would return..i will be going into hospital on my own and have my pre op on the 2nd October..i have never had an operation or broke a bone or had a stitch and for a man of my size ( now around 26 stone) i am reasonably fit ..so any support from fellow strugglers or sleevers would be great as as i said im pretty much on my own ..thanks all Richard xxx 1 meamo reacted to this
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted September 25, 2013 Nerves are completely normal, surgery is a big deal! But the odds of something bad happening are very, very small. I was kind of in the same place as I didn't have any local family or friends to support me in the hospital or immediatley post-op. In a way that was kind of good, though, as I had nothing to do but focus on my own recovery. I didn't have to waste my time explaining stuff to other people or sitting around trying to enjoy "company" in the hospital when I should have been focusing on sipping and walking. Keep in mind that your two main jobs post-op are sipping and walking, and just take care of those! I had no problems with my recovery and like you, I turned to this board a lot for information when I needed it. I am sure you will do great! Be sure to keep checking in
plumptofrump 6 Posted September 25, 2013 My surgery is Oct 7. I am really nervous and worried about leaks and blood clots. But to combat this I try to focus on all the positive things in my future. The two week liquid diet is putting me to the test. I am so glad that most people are glad to help and answer our questions. Good luck to you. 1 Kelsnikol reacted to this

potpieiii 19 Posted September 28, 2013 This forum is fabulous! I'm on day 8 of my pre op liquid diet, and my surgery is on October 1st. I've been coming to this forum every day for support and so far, I haven't cheated once on my pre op diet! So you definitely have support here. :-) Keep posting and checking in! Good luck!! 1 Yerk reacted to this

MsBadu504 45 Posted October 3, 2013 My date is October 9th too; that's makes us sleeve siblings. I'm not nervous yet, but I know next week I'll be a nervous wreck.
