Relationships/Dating: What do you do to keep the interest going?

Recommended Posts

So...we know after time that we become comfortable in our relationships...whether married, dating, etc....and perhaps might not do as much to keep the spark going. Not our fault, just natural progression.

Some people say that to keep someone interested in "the chase" - to ignore, taunt, act disinterested, etc.

What are some of your ideas?

What have you done successfully to keep the interest of the opposite sex?

Has it changed pre-band vs. post-band?

A new activity to do together

Wear sexy clothing at least a few times a week when around your S.O.

Send the kids to grandmas and make a nice candlelit dinner, with nice soft music, look extra beautiful and sexy, lite candles in your bedroom and living room... make him feel wanted and loved...

Tuck little I love you notes, or similar in his jacket pocket, or lunch, etc.

Complete financial dependence, a mortgage, two leased cars and three hungry mouths to feed works for us, lol!

We dont have time to think about "us" much, although we are lucky to always have had a supportive, companiable and stable relationship.

But the intimate part of our relationship, whilst healthy, is not first and foremost on our minds these days. And I think that's key, to be able to keep that part healthy without it being the main focus. Because through this stage of a marriage or relationship, when kids are young, you're setting yourself up for your retirement etc, it just cant be the focus. So you darn well need to have other strengths besides just in the bedroom.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
