frpringle 53 Posted September 25, 2013 I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced a hernia from one of the incision sites. The incision where my surgeon took out my stomach has always bothered me. I believe that I popped my stitches early on, but they insisted that the pain was normal. Now, I'm going to an appointment with my regular doctor tomorrow and ask them to see if I have a hernia, because I am most positive that is what it is. If anyone has had a hernia due to the surgery, can you give me some insight on what you went through? Thanks!
ghohmann83 1 Posted September 28, 2013 My doctor just found my hernia last night thanks to a friend/coworker who contacted my doctors office. I haven't been able to take in any Protein or soft foods without extreme pain and wanting to vomit. I also had diahhrea for two days. My doctor said to immediately get to the er for fluids and they did something like a barium swallow n found the hernia impeding on the top of my stomach. I follow up on Monday to see what he wants to do. But for now I'm back to Clear Liquids.< /p>
LBD 121 Posted September 28, 2013 I recently found out that I have an umbilical hernia, most likely a result of an incision made during WLS in 2007. Had LOTS of pain recovering but don't think it had anything to do with the hernia, even though according to the CT scan it's large. So I guess they're not always painful... My surgeon will deal with it during my VSG surgery on the 15th, but not really sure if it will effect my recovery time, or if if it'll be painful after it's removed. Interested also to hear other's experiences also!

ghohmann83 1 Posted October 5, 2013 Well I only had pain after I tried swallowing it would get "stuck" in the middle of my chest.. but after a few scans turns out my hernia is actually a contained leak . No food or drink by mouth and I now have a picc line for all my nutrients n antibiotics.
