Need a buddy/mentor...

In other news, I told my mom about the surgery! She was like, "oh yea, two of my church members had that done, good for you!" Lol, pleasant surprise bc I told her yesterday which was two year anniversary of Dad's passing. The coolest thing ever, was that just as I was about to cry (missing dad) the phone rang and it was the surgeons office telling me they were sending my info to insurance co. No tears after all, just happy about taking control of my life. :-)

Things are good! In my body, I feel good! My Fitness Pal is an app where you are able to log your food and keep track of your meals. You are able to "friend" people and view their menu to get food ideas.

Oh yea! Lol, I should have remembered that! Question, did you have to keep a food diary? If so, did keep one while you were waiting for your surgery date?

I so meed a buddy/mentor right now. I had my surgery July 30, 2013 so 6 months now.. and I've lost 56 lbs, yay! I've been at the same weight for more then two weeks now. To be honest.. my diet has not been the best. I am afraid I've stretched my stomach because at night I can't seem to curve my appetite. I have IBS and drinking Protein drinks only causes flare ups which makes leaving the house very difficult. I've also been losing my hair, a lot which has me depressed. I am taking supplements & using Hair loss shampoo/conditioner. HELP!!

I'm happy to be your buddy but won't be much help as I am only 1 month out. Elainejohnson3074@gmail.com

Cliftongirl, for additional support i joined instagram (mycupofjojo) and searched wls (weight loss surgery) and vgs vertical gastric sleeve, rny etc. I think people respond quicker on there. I'm still pre op but everything youre describing is stuff I see on my feed every day!

Mary did you get your surgery done before 2014?

Girl, I wish! Work and family bumped my schedule. I'm scheduled for March 5th. Looks like self pay, but oh well.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
