December Bandsters in January!

Recommended Posts

The mock mashed potatoes is as follows (how I did it)

Cut up a whole califlower and boil it soft in chicken broth. Drain broth in cup and set aside. Add couple tablespoons of low fat sour cream and 1/2 c shreaded cheese and mash. If you need more liquid as it is too dry you can add the chicken broth instead of milk and it will be lower carb and fat. It was yummy!

I am going to try to mock fried rice with califlower soon!

Mmmmmmmmmmm Now that sounds Yummy. I'm going to make that :) Thankyou :)

Jill---I like the poor man’s steak idea. I’ll be trying that soon. <O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p

Mpov---I’m glad your first fill went well and you're feeling restriction.

I'm not sure if I'm having head hunger or real hunger between meals. Anyone else having trouble distinguising between the two? I still have to keep measuring so I don't overeat because I feel like I can eat more than I should. :noidea:<O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p

Gerbera---thanks for the info from your dietician. I have a fear of dialating my pouch or the band slipping. I guess if we are following our doctors orders and being careful we’re gonna be fine. <O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p

Take care everybody! You know what I just realized. Valentine’s Day is coming up and I usually get chocolate!!!! I’m curious to see how my hubby handles that situation. LOL.<O:p</O:p

jillrn: Please share the Mock Fried Rice recipe. I so love rice, last I tried to eat it, I got that aweful golf ball feeling :) So mock rice just might be the answer :) I'll be away for a few days, I wonder if I could bother you to send it as a Private Message??

I'm posting this on all the December threads to try to reach everyone.

I think those of us still posting have decided it's easier to just stick with the original December bandsters thread:

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=25506

There doesn't seem to be much traffic on the monthly threads and we may be losing people with each new thread.

However, like I said before, if others want to keep the monthly threads going, I'll follow wherever you go. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
