newat52 1,613 Posted September 24, 2013 Don't fall into the nothing solid in, nothing solid out myth. Even though you are not consuming solids, if you are taking in any Protein, you will need to move it out. I didn't even think about it till day 6 post op, by then it was too late. Keep in mind that the first few weeks post op, you will be taking in Protein but little to no Fiber. Not a good combo for the other end. You may want to talk to your surgeons office about adding some Miralax or MOM to your liquids. It can be a huge problem for a lot of people. Search the thread topics, you will find hundreds of threads regarding this. Good luck, you will love your sleeve! 2 Adora2150 and PdxMan reacted to this

laners777 145 Posted September 24, 2013 Horrible problems for me in this area. I found Smooth Move tea at Frys and Safeway. It is the only thing that has helped in this area. Be careful though, I drank a BIG mug of tea first time around and regretted that move (no pun intended). I drink a regular size cup every other day and it helps with Constipation. I couldn't see where it said no caffeine on it so pretty sure it has caffeine but for what it helps with, I take the hit for the caffeine. 1 Adora2150 reacted to this
Catherine707 253 Posted September 24, 2013 I was ok for the first 3 months, but then the Constipation hit like a ton of bricks (pun intended!) My doctor suggested a mixture of applesauce, wheat bran and prune juice. (1/4 cup applesauce, 1/4 cup wheat bran, 1/2 prune juice) mix it up and keep it in the refridgerator. Have 1 tablespoon at night before bed with 12 oz of Water. It seems to be helping, but I'm not out of the woods yet....
SDH 87 Posted September 24, 2013 I had the same problem my first week post-op...Thank God for whoever invented Milk of Magnesia and dulcolax tabs...word of advice, DO NOT take them together unless you plan on spending the day VERY close to the restroom...saying anything more than that would be WAY over-sharing! Spooky22 9 Posted September 24, 2013 I am 1 week out also. My doctor had me use Ducolax. The first one is a doozy! Then said take Senakot for bulk.

It was far and away the biggest post op issue I had, and still struggle (no pun intended) If you are already clogged, it's not gonna be pretty but make sure you keep at it so you don't become impacted.
