Mexico sleevers wanted!

Recommended Posts

Hello Mexico sleevers, I am trying to get as more info as I can about being sleeved in Mexico. My older sister who was denied by her insurance cos of low BMI and no health issues except for knee pain is considering going to Mexico to be sleeved. She is worried about something happening and no one to be held responsible. Also, she is wondering who will follow up with her when she comes back here. Also, the amount of money it cost, can she trust anyone, who's the best surgeon back there etc. please I need as more info as I can get for my sister. She is seeing my progress and she wants the same for herself which I would love for her to have by all means. Thanks in advance.

There is a huge Mexico forum here with plenty of us sleevers in it. Who is the best surgeon? Each of us will recommend our own, I'm sure. Costs vary. I paid $4,700. Some have paid as much as 10k. It's not all about cost, it's about how comfortable you are with your surgeon and coordinator. I used ALighterMe and Dr. Lopez, Dr. Elias Ortiz assisted in my surgery. I decided on them after A LOT of research. I suggest you and your sister check out the Mexico forums, and talk to some Mexico Sleevers there. I had great success, all of my follow up care is being provided by my PCP, not my surgeon. I felt safe, and I'd do it again a million times. I'd be happy to share my whole story with you, just PM me. Good luck on your research!! This is probably going to be the most difficult part!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
