one night--and i WANTED to stay overnight. didn't want husband to have to be the full-time nurse right after surgery. also, my surgery wasn't until late in the day--so i couldn't have gone home anyway. was walking the hall at 2:30 am because i couldn't sleep, and had MILD gas pain. left the next morning at 10:30 a.m.

tip: get a pain pill before you leave the hospital next day--it's MUCH easier on you for the ride home. EVERYONE on my floor did--i'm glad i did too, and i only had about a 20 min commute back home.
