Me too. 1 night stay and put under. Can't imagine it any other way!

I was put under but I went home with hubby same day and just put myself to bed when I got home. I just checked out until next day. I had two days of soreness when I leaned over . I would forget and say Oh yeah I had surgery. I had to hold myself back for the next 5 days because I felt so good. Then I started walking slowly and built my exercise program back up.

I was supposed to go home the same day but ended up spending the night. I was put under. The surgery was easy and quick (about 30 mins). I was back to my old self in a day or two. ~Mandy

Piercedqt78: is there a reason why you stayed after being supposed to go home the same day?

I had a hematoma (sp?). They kept me as a precaution. I was fine, could have gone home same day, but the doc wanted to keep an eye on me. ~Mandy

I went in around 7AM and was back in the car around 11AM. Short and sweet and I did just fine. Yes, as far as I know this is considered major surgery and you are completely under for the procedure.

I was an overnight patient (totally anestisized). Released the following morning and returned to the hotel long enough to store luggage...and hailed a taxi to Revolution Blvd in TJ and shopped all that afternoon. Never had a pain pill one, walking was recommended to get rid of the gas that they use to blow your tummy up for the surgery. Left San Diego the following morning, flew to Dallas, then drove to my home in Oklahoma. I was tired but in NO pain.

I had surgery at 1:30 in the afternoon and was in the hospital for two nights. Was only suppose to be one night but I was very nausious (sp) still the day after so my surgeon wanted to keep me an extra night. Once home I felt fine just a few problems with getting rid of the gas that they use to blow your stomach up.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
