Wireless signals in Tijuana - Tracfone or Page Plus

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Okay, I have two wireless phones - one is Page Plus and the other is Tracfone. Does anyone have either of these and has successfully used them in Tijuana (or anywhere in Mexico for that matter)

I called both of these carriers - Page Plus said NO not unless I can catch a Verizon signal (gee that helps)

Tracfone was even more ridiculous and said NO - and went onto say that no tracfone will work outside the contiguous US - which is utter baloney folks as I have an Alaska Tracfone number which works just dandy in Alaska.

So I did try the carriers first but their answers are less than helpful - would LOVE to hear from anyone with Tracfone - Page Plus or Verizon about this - did your phone work in Tijuana Mexico ?

I don't have either of those phones but I'm lmao at the sarchasm.

I have Sprint and have determined that my phone will be going into Airplane mode while in TJ to avoid outrageous fees the will be charged for any texts or calls, including incoming. I'm just hoping that my hospital and hotel have free wireless connections cuz I'm just going to "say no to cell phones" while in TJ. Good luck to you!

Italiancurves - thanks and I definitely understand you turning off your phone to avoid roaming. FYI - if you have Skype app on your phone you should be able to make wifi calls just fine. I have my iPhone on prepaid page plus for $29.95 a month so roaming can't do too much damage to me as it can't go any higher than my plan but what bugs me is you cannot get a straight answer from these companies - so I guess I'll just find out when I get there (but hey there's always email)

I have AT&T so I called and talked to someone in the international dept. I explained my trip situation and was told for $60.00 I can get 200 minutes and that once I got there if I could not get a signal, to call them and they would get me on someone else's tower. I will be traveling alone, so it is very important to have cell service once I get to the hotel.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
