My closet is skinny too!

Recommended Posts

Just got rid of the last few things I was hanging on to. I barely have anything left! My husband helped me load it all into bags. As I was throwing away a hoodie I had always worn, my husband asked why I was throwing it away when I loved it so much. It made me cry to tell him that I hadn't really loved it, I had pretend that I did with the majority of my clothes because I am young and want to look unique in my clothing choice, but my size wouldn't allow it. The hoodie I got rid of was a men's 4x. I do have a fun sense of style but I have never been able to show it before. I'm not all the way there, but I am a heck of a lot closer than I was before! Oh and I got rid of all those hangers that had the sizes on them. No more 26/28 for me! So now my closet is so empty, but I am hesitant to get things that I will get too small for... What a fabulous problem! I am 5.5 months out. I have lost 100 pounds. I never thought I would ever be where I am today. I am so grateful for this surgery, and all the people who supported me. I hope all is well with everyone else!

Nice job!

I always told people that I just 'wasn't a coat person' and I just wore a big sweater and then hat, scarf, gloves, etc.

The truth- I was ashamed that the clothing companies that my family would have tried to buy me something from... nothing would have fit me. My belly and hips was bigger than their largest plus size coats would fit.

But NOW, I'm always cold, and this winter, I'm getting a COAT! And a ladies large will fit, thankyouverymuch.

Congratulations! I also hope to lose 100 lbs. Luckily I have bins full of stuff I've grown out of... XL, L and even a few Mediums from waaaaay back :) I could never get rid of them. But I plan to get rid of all my fat clothes as I lose - that's for sure (except my biggest pair of pants for comparison).

Wow! You look AMAZING! Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you.

For me, it's the color black... everyone thinks I love wearing black, it's the only color I like to wear, but it really isn't true. I've been wearing mostly black the past few years because it's "slimming" and people don't notice me so much :-/

I'm having the surgery on Friday, I can't wait to lose my 100lbs and wear colors!

You look great!! I totally understand what you mean about the clothes. I never liked the clothes I had but they didn't sell "my style" in plus size. It feels great to be able to dress to my personality.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
