Does anyone feel like this is just TOO good?

Recommended Posts

I want to start off by saying- 1) I'm not complaining. 2) I'm not bragging.

But do any of you feel like you've had it too good?? 3 months post op I'm feeling and doing wonderful! I'm following my plan, hitting my goals on time, no hiccups really. Even the surgery itself went smoothly and with very little pain afterwards. But lately I've been meeting people (who are either post op VSG or band) who are doing TERRIBLY- complications, feeling sick, not losing weight, etc. I sometimes even feel guilty (not sure if that's the best word- but the best way I can think to describe it) that I'm all happy & healthy and others are so miserable. A man from my home town is currently hospitalized after complications from his sleeve- he's doing very poorly- and I guess seeing all the posts on FB about his situation really makes me feel so lucky/blessed with my outcome-- but guilty at the same time. Does this make sense at all??

Sure it makes sense! Congratulations. REMEMBER, 'Them that's done well need to support them that's having difficulty'. That's how we pay it forward!!!

It makes sense, but don't beat yourself up over it. Instead, be the light and the example that inspires people to strive in their journey. You would be surprised who has eyes on your success right now and how you influence their lives. :)

Six months out and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. Everything has gone great I down 100 lbs and in better shape than I've been in years. It seems almost effortless. I still fill my plate with more than I can eat, I eat slowly and stop at the fires feeling of satiety.

I'm over three years out and I STILL feel this way. I feel surely it will come to a screeching halt. Paranoia, it's not a bad thing!!! LoL

Congratulations, you are doing great. It only gets better!

So sad! The smoking really makes it hard for the body to heal.

Don't feel guilty. Enjoy your success. I haven't had any complications and I lost every week till I was at a normal BMI and I have maintained my weight for 18 months. I am grateful to be one of the lucky ones. Maintenance takes vigilance, but it is worth it to me. I would not be at this healthy weight without the surgery.

I had some issues at the beginning with eating, had my gallbladder out at 3 weeks post-op (very hard to recover from 2 surgeries back to back). But still no serious complications. Since abou tthe 2 month mark, it's been so easy. The weight has really just come off on it's own and somethimes I feel like it's too good to be true. I feel bad for those with complications, but I don't feel guilty about my sucess. It's the luck of the draw sometimes with leaks and things like that which are out of our control. Congrats to all those who are breezing through and my thoughts and prayers to those having problems.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
