Scheduled for Tuesday the 23rd.

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have been reading many posts for the last 2 weeks. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. I am more nervous about the actual procedure, and just feeling a bit of jitters, although excited about the new stage of weight loss I will encounter. Has anyone experienced any trouble during the actual operation? I am told it is a pretty non-evasive surgery, and

just dealing with the soreness and gas will be the biggest issues.

:)

Those were the biggest issues for me. The surgery went great. Congratulations and let us know how you're doing.

You will see the doctor for about 20 seconds while he asks you if you have any questions. Next thing you know you will be in aftercare wondering when they are going to start it goes so fast. LOL.

I think everyone gets nervous before hand so that is definitely normal.

Hi Nella,

I was just banded last Tuesday in Mexico. I had the jitters too but more excited about the outcome. I had very little pain at all and the operation itself was a breeze to my surprise. I had never had any surgeries at all in my life and I had no problems with gas at all.. Biggest problem is adjusting to an all liquid diet during this stage. Wish you all the best of luck.

Nella,

I hope your surgery went today and you are feeling well. I was also banded today at 7:30 this morning by Dr. Speigle. 14 hours post-op and I think all is going OK. I was neverous before the surgery but it was over before I could blink. I'm sore and having gas pains and a bloating feeling. liquids have been going down easily. I'm also feeling a bit of anxiety that I have never felt before. I was told the anetheisa can make you feel anxious. Has anyone experienced the anxiety on the 1st day post-op. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel more normal.

LBTexan,

I am glad to hear that you are feeling well. I have experienced the anxiety that you are feeling after your surgery. I have had quite a few surgeries in my lifetime, each one I had different reaction to the anesthesia. One time I had the shakes, one time I was very anxious... It will wear off eventually and may be worn off by the time you read this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
