I take it you havent been sleeved yet? Or have you?

On the two week liquid diet i slipped up about 3 times and i wont lie i needed to. I still lost 13 lbs. Not saying that you should but a little bit of chicken is not going to ruin everything...that being said if you are post op and only a few days out you will not enjoy the feeling.

Why would you need to take a laxative? With mostly a liquid diet you will pass any solid food you eat pretty quickly. Besides a quick weight loss they want you to do the liquid diet to clean out your bowels as a lot of people get constipated after the surgery.

You slipped up not the end of the world..just move on from there! We all make mistakes :)

More the question is do you need to take a laxative? I would guess this will pass just like before. laxatives take awhile to work, so you probably wouldn't see results right away. Also, eating chicken is not much of a slip. Many doctors say we can eat one real meal a day of lean meat.< /p>

I'm going with you being pre-op as you are posting in pre-op questions.

If so eating chicken should not derail you but try to follow your plan.

If you were 7 days post-op you probably could not eat 6 oz of grilled chicken at one sitting.

Hey guy I had a slip up today and ate some chicken. No sauce plain grilled chicken but I ate abou t 6 oz. I'm 7 days into liquid diet and I feel pretty sick. Should I take a laxative? If so what kind? Thank you!

I confess too... I had a food funeral moment last night too :/ the weekend has been very difficult for me. We are so busy with family, kids/sports that staying on the pre-op diet has been really hard for me. Not to mention we had a birthday party to attend as well as another family function. I'm back on track today though! :)

Do not worry! You start clean tomorrow, and no talk of laxatives! That sounds like eating disorder talk. The pre op diet is so you can get use to the first two weeks post op and loose some fat from around your liver. It's makes it easier for your surgeon to work.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
