Do you eat by measure or by 'feel'?

Recommended Posts

Hey all, just about 10 days until I'm banded. I am prepared with all foods for the diet afterwards. Probably OVER prepared (Enough Soup to feed my town!).

At pre-op class we were told that we need to eat 60 gm Protein a day, about 2-3 oz per meal.

Do you all measure your Proteins and be sure to eat them all, or do you stop when you 'feel' full. I'm just wondering if I will stop or not. I KNOW the band will stop me; but it may be too late.

Again, my PBing fear is looming.

Thanks,

Sheri

I eat by "feel" now, but I think it is a good idea to measure things at first until you get idea of portion sizes. I know I eat more than 2oz of Protein for dinner......

Feel - definitely. I want to be able to listen to my body, not have to "control" it in that way.

I probably dont get enough Protein one day, but I will the next kind of thing. I take a multi to make sure I get what I need.

But overall I eat what I want, when I want, however much feels comfortable. And its worked well for me to do it that way.

I eat by feel, I can eat about 10 oz at a time. I need a fill as I am hungry again really soon. I can eat 1/4 of a normal chicken breast, (about 4 or 5 oz) 1/2 cup of a veggie and I'm done. I don't do bread, rice or Pasta at all. I have to have some kind of sauce for dry meats, I'm finding that I really like the low sodium Asian sauces right now, chili sauce is one of my faves. I tried the measuring thing and found that sometimes it was still too much, but tried to eat it all anyway. (clean plate syndrome) I feel full up under my rib cage now, not in my belly. Also I have the soft stop that tells me I am getting full, a runny nose, or a hiccup. ~Mandy

I measured a little at first, but that was inconvienent for me, so I go by feel now. I am trying very hard to learn to listen to the q's my body is giving me when full.

Tight feeling in my tummy, i'm full. Lump in my throat, I've eaten too much.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
