chibabyy 77 Posted September 22, 2013 I use to hate the fact that my weight loss is so slow compared to most people but I think that I'm loving it now because people don't suspect or question me having surgery compared to a lady I know that dropped weight so fast that people are saying that she had surgery even though she denies it. I know it's nobody's business and that people will always gossip, which is why I only told my family and my boss. Another good thing about this is that I have more energy now so I use the stairs more at work and workout more now with my residents that people see my trying to lose weight that surgery is the last thing on their mind. And of course, I tell them my secret when asked: eat your Protein first, then your veggies and if still hungry, other things and exercise. I am not lying, I just don't feel like disclosing all my info. My numbers: SW: 300, CW: 250, surgery date6/5/13 (my birthday). Best decision I have ever made. 9 carolina c, A_ReNUDE_me, 1gorgeousgodzilla and 6 others reacted to this
Pixie Dust 526 Posted September 22, 2013 Congratulations to you! I feel the same. I was first a little upset over such a slow weight loss but as I started really thinking about it, it's actually a blessing because I didn't tell anyone either (except my husband & BFF & one aunt) so this way no one is the wiser. A neighbor noticed & I said I had hernia surgery (shhhhh) & just haven't gotten my appetite back since. No one is the wiser...it's my secret & if I want to share it, I will but at this point I just don't. It's no one's business. I think I'm going to start sharing your story tho, just eating Protein first, then veggies, etc.. I guess as long as I'm headed in the right direction on the scale, I'm not going to complain. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
livelyterry 55 Posted September 22, 2013 Sounds like you're doing a great job. Your weight loss doesn't sound that slow to me. 50 lbs in a little over 4 months? That's awesome ! 2 MIJourney and A_ReNUDE_me reacted to this
Sassygirl06 962 Posted September 22, 2013 50 pounds in 3 months doesn't sound slow to me at all....but still I am glad that everything is going so well for you. I too chose not to tell anyone, and I was a slow loser. People still questioned me if I had surgery, but I find that it really isn't anyone's business what I have or had not done to my body. There are reasons for such strict hippa laws...because its our business, and nobody else's! Good luck to you! 1 MIJourney reacted to this

StarryNight 20 Posted September 22, 2013 I agree with your points about slow losing making it non-obvious! With that said, sounds like your stats aren't slow at all! Congrats! 1 1gorgeousgodzilla reacted to this
Mel1071 149 Posted September 23, 2013 I am scheduled for surgery in December so I don't know what's going to happen. But I have had similar feelings to the OP. I would not mind things being slower so that it's not as obvious. I don't have any intention of telling everyone so losing "slowly" would be fine by me. Plus I figure it might help my skin too. I'm also a slow looser,I've only list 20 pounds. On the contrary I tell everyone about my sleeve, I've only list 20 pounds and people can already see how much happier, healthier and mobile I am... This surgery has been a lifesaver for me. So if my testimony can help someone else, why not share the news and help others???? Of course I've gotten some ignorant people who don't know how to act but I don't care about them... I care about the ones that will be impacted by me and because of that decided to do something about themselves.... I'm also glad to be a slow looser because it gives time for my body and SKIN to adjust as I loose.... Many blessings to all...
flyme_places 99 Posted September 25, 2013 I am also a slow loser. I have lost 31 since surgery (7/19) but the number on the scale is going down so I'm happy. I told EVERYONE that I was having surgery. Family, friends, coworkers and people on Facebook. I just feel that maybe my story with help other people who are dealing with weight issues. I always post on FB when I loose weight even if it's .1 pounds. But that's just me. We are all doing a great job slow or fast cause God knows I wouldn't have been able to do this on my own. 1 carolina c reacted to this
NMJG 1,266 Posted September 25, 2013 I'm a slow loser, too, but it's OK because people don't think I have had surgery, and even better, the slower you lose the less loose skin you will have. I know I'll have bat wings and tummy skin, but hopefully it won't be as bad as it could be. Still, 2 lbs a week is a little depressing 1 carolina c reacted to this
