When did you start seeing a difference?

Recommended Posts

I am 1 month post op tomorrow. I have lost 31 lbs but hit a stall on 9/10 and am getting discouraged. I am only getting 1 Protein Shake in a day and around 32 oz Water. eating solid foods now. all low fat, low calorie, and low carb. does the Protein and water really effect weightloss or is it the food intake? when did you see a change in your body, I keep waiting and I do not see a change yet.

I'm almost 8 weeks post op and I'm down 62 lbs, and it honestly just depends on your body. I have hit several stalls and they always seem to last about a week or 2 for me then I see a huge drop sometimes about 5 pounds. It just depends on how your body reacts to the surgery and your current intake of food and Protein. Right now I can see a huge difference because my pants are down 4 sizes and my stomach has shrunk as well. As long as your eating right I think you will be ok and will see some new results soon. 31 LBS lost in a month is not bad by any means. Just be more patient with yourself and your body.

Agreed.

I started seeing a difference at about 25-30 pounds.....now that I'm down more, people are noticing.....don't know if height is a factor as to when you start seeing a difference, but I'm on the short side at 5'1"

When I had lost 25 or 30 pounds I felt like everyone should have noticed. I thought wow now I should look skinny or skinnier. The thing is it takes time and although we have been on this journey for months prior to surgery and working so hard at becoming this new person we feel like it should happen right now. I remember feeling impatient and a little frustrated that it didn't happen right away. Friends here on the forum had to remind me that I was doing terrific and to hang in there it was going to happen. They were right it does take a little time but it does happen! Did you measure yourself before surgery? If so, measure yourself again and see if there are some differences with the inches. The scale might not tell the whole story but the inches will. Good luck and hang in there you are doing a great job so far! :)

I could tell a difference at around 30 pounds, but most people started noticing close to 50 pounds lost. I have taken pics every month post op, and I think it was most noticeable at around 3-4 months post op, and I had lost about 65 pounds at that time.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
