ReMom13 3 Posted September 22, 2013 I'm starting to research how to fund my surgery as I don't have insurance. I want to make the best decision to avoid drama and additional charges. Has anyone had experience with financing through; fundmydr.com, creditcare.com or unitedmedical.com? I have read good and bad reviews on all three, and I don't want to apply here, there, and everwhere as credit checks lower your score. Any recommendations? Thanks! 920amy 409 Posted September 22, 2013 I went to Mexico. $4,700 out of pocket. With the cost so low, I didn't need to work with creative financing. That isn't always an option for everyone, but in case you want more info on Mexico Drs, there is a board here dedicated to Mexican Sleevers. I used ALighterMe. Good luck, I know that figuring out how to fund your surgery, whether it's 200 out of pocket, or 20k, it's still stressful. I hope to see you on the Losers bench soon! 1 sonya139 reacted to this
loveelaura 52 Posted September 22, 2013 I was looking at care credit but was a little taken aback on the interest rates. Now I'm looking at getting a home equity line of credit. Much lower interest rate and I have a little while before I HAVE to start paying it back Sent from my iPhone using VST
IdahoGirl32 89 Posted September 22, 2013 You may be able to get a personal loan through a credit union. I was able to get a really good interest rate through my credit union and they can be pretty flexible with credit scores because they make the decisions locally. 1 sonya139 reacted to this
ReMom13 3 Posted October 5, 2013 Thanks everyone. I am planning on having it in Mexico and have found that care credit will not allow out-of-country procedures, and united medical will not work with many doctors, though several are trying to change that. I contacted fundmydr, but they didn't answer any of my questions, or give me any real information. They just sent an "apply with this creditor" email, and I wasn't comfortable just giving my information out without them even answering my basic questions. I don't own a home, so line of equity is out, and I'm not part of a credit union I'm still investigating my options. and still hope for early next year. I'm thinking if I can save at least half (4500) then maybe I can borrow the other 4500....that amount shouldn't be too hard for a bank to part with LOL Any other suggestions?? Bob Barnett 34 Posted October 5, 2013 Most of the companies have options on their webpage. Efinancing Solutions have good options. But if you are going to Mexico and can save $4500 you are basically there. I'm using Alighterme and paying $4200. 1 920amy reacted to this
920amy 409 Posted October 5, 2013 Yes, ALighterMe is only $4,200. I used them in November, the price was higher then, but they are working to keep the price down, which I think everyone can appreciate. There are many Dr.'s in Mexico, I would suggest you research all of them, of course price isn't always the ultimate deciding factor, but the surgery can be done for much less than 9k in Mexico. Good luck. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions about being sleeved in Mexico, or ALighterMe. I did A LOT of research before deciding to go to Mexico, and I cannot tell you how happy I am that I did.
