It has been one year since my surgery. I have lost 135 lbs so far. I would still like to lose another 30. During my first few months, it was this website, the success stories, the advice and yes the more difficult stories that helped me. I have experienced things over the past 6 months that I haven't done in years - concerts, trips and even a boot camp exercise program. I found muscles I didn't even know I had. I do not have one regret about my decision to have the surgery. I am looking forward to life and living it instead of just watching.

That is astonishing - I LOVE your before and after photos - I know I sound like a scratched record because I'm sure I say this a lot - but seriously you look like two different people. Have you had people not recognize you ?

You look incredible! I think one thing that is most fascinating to me when I look at before and after pics is how much YOUNGER people tend to look when the weight is gone! You are no exception! Congrats on the phenomenal loss and I wish you all the best in losing those last few pounds!

Thanks. It is funny you should ask. I was in work the other day and said hello to someone I have worked with for years but hadn't seen in awhile. She apologized to me because she said she sat next to me in a meeting and didn't realize it was me. She was very happy for me. I feel the weight loss in the things I can do physically but I still don't see the weight loss the way others do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
