StarryNight 20 Posted September 20, 2013 Ugh, I'm 11 weeks post and I just had my first sliming moment. GUH-ROSS. Are you flattered that the first thing I thought to do when it was over, was to think of you all and come here to share? :/ 2 Indigo1991 and unbesleevable1 reacted to this
StarryNight 20 Posted September 20, 2013 Question, now that I've tossed my Cookies, should I drink up on Water, or just give it a rest?
ItsMe2033 143 Posted September 20, 2013 I'm not an expert at this, but in the information given out by surgeons office, they suggest that if you have any problems with anything that you have eaten that you wait at least two hours before you put anything else into your sleeve. I'm sure a sip of Water won't hurt, but I would not drink more than that for a while.

LipstickLady 25,682 Posted September 21, 2013 I slime alllll the time. If only a bit comes up, I consume nothing for hours. If it all comes out, I start liquids in 30 minutes or so.
newat52 1,613 Posted September 21, 2013 Thank you sleeve gods, I have not had it happen. Soooo grateful!

LipstickLady 25,682 Posted September 21, 2013 One bite too many some days, one bite of the wrong thing maybe, not enough chewing, or my sleeve is just feeling ornery.
Nikiw2008 50 Posted September 21, 2013 Eww! Horrible experience!! Happened to me last week for the 1st time! Definitely know my limit now and won't let it happen again!!
StarryNight 20 Posted September 21, 2013 Yeah, I'm learning my limits too. I think it was a bite of the wrong thing (just turkey off the bone) and maybe not chewing well enough. But yeah, maybe the sleeve being ornery!
missy moo 19 Posted September 21, 2013 What is 'slimed' please.. 1 1gorgeousgodzilla reacted to this
StarryNight 20 Posted September 22, 2013 Missy Moo, it's a phenomenon that can happen with the sleeve. Too much, too fast, or too "other" for the stomach to handle and your body lubricates your esophagus, and the food slides right back up and out, causing retching. There's a more tech definition, but that's what happened to me.
Rozz76 7 Posted September 23, 2013 I loved fish pre-op but omg I have slimed twice after eating fish...GROSS!
wynk11 120 Posted September 23, 2013 @ Roz I think you're eating fish too soon! That may be the cause of your slime. You should stick to liquids and soft at least 3 weeks post op. Good luck! It definitely gets better.
