tortilla 5weekspost op.

Recommended Posts

I envy you all for being able to eat. I am seven weeks post op and I cannot eat anything without it hurting going down. When I do try to eat anything and feels like to get stuck halfway going down and most of the time I wind up vomiting it back up. Smh. I find myself drinking Water or apple juice throughout the day because it's a safe choice. I'm starting to get depressed because of it.

Reign,

Bless your heart! I hope you've let your doc know about this. It doesn't seem right at all. I have been very fortunate and have never had anything get stuck. I do have some nausea everyday either before or after eating, but have only thrown up once since I've been home. I was 8 weeks out this past Wednesday.

If you aren't able to eat, have you lost a lot of weight? You said you can drink alright. Are you getting in your Protein? I drink Isopure, but am getting kind of tired of it and am looking into trying some different kinds. I think maybe a variety of Protein Drinks would be more appetizing than just the same kind all the time.

I understand about your depression. I've been depressed too. I always used food to make me happy, so I'm mourning the loss of my old "best friend." It's a different life for us now. I hope when I'm a year out, I'll be used to eating such a small amount, be thin, and be happy I had the surgery. I know all the yo-yo dieting was bad for me. My health is better already and I've only lost 44 lbs, so far. 95 lbs. to go!

Call that doctor and take care of yourself. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Linda

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
