My dietician told me that 6th - 12th months post-op I should use 90 grams of carbs per day as my guideline.

She said after one year the guideline is 130 grams per day.

I try to stay under 50 if possible. They just make me want more. Most of the carbs I get are from vegetable, meat etc. I stay away from the bread, Pasta and rice. It's a personal choice. :)

Its all I can do to count calories. I don't count carbs or Protein. That's right, I don't count carbs or ptotein. I know, blasphemy. I still eat bread, rice, Pasta, and fruit. I don't eat enuf to really count however and I'm still losing. I had wls so Id never have to diet again. Counting stuff makes me feel like I'm dieting. Its all I can do to track my calories on MFP. I do that daily, trying to stay under 1,000 but its not the end of the world if its 1100 or 1200.

I know that low carb is anything less than 60 gms. Less than 30 is considered extremely low carb. My hubby is an Atkins fan and does less than 20 regularly. I tried it once for 2 weeks. I was miserable. Id rather eat carbs, just eat less food.

Good luck

You are correct. I should have qualified it by including whatever it is cooked with. For example sauces, gravies, etc. Sorry!

I think you have a very healthy outlook and if you are losing weight with this plan I say more power to you. I actually do not count anything either but I do try to keep a mental track on things. I think if we get caught up in the numbers to much we can create headgames with ourselves. :)

I've been on low carb for 13 years. I don't count carbs because at every decision point, I always choose the lowest carb option. My guess is that I probably get 20 to 30 grams of carbs on most days.

My Vitamins alone have 23 or so grams of carbs -- that's before having any food.< /p>

I'm almost 12 weeks out and try to shoot for 50

Carbs or less a day. My NUT didn't give me a number, she just said to choose lower carb stuff. I picked up my number from reading the forum a lot. I do stay away from bread right now, so most of the carbs comes from veggies, sauces (had broccoli beef last night) and fruit. I do not cope very well if I don't have fresh fruit so I have some every day- peaches, pears, apples, blueberries, etc. I also love Minute maid light strawberry lemonade (15 cal for 16 oz) and that has a few carbs too.

I am the same way. I'm pre op. My surgery day is scheduled for 11/19/13. I am eating more Protein during the day and my carbs come from cheese, veg and meat. I lost 8lbs in 2 weeks. My dietician was so happy... but what I learned about me is the more Protein I have, the less I crave carbs. And, I also have to make a commitment not to buy them. My other trick to not craving carbs is not allowing myself to get hungry. Carbs are a drug to me. They are my cryptonites... if I have it, I know im screwed. How does post op people deal with this?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
