Coffee after being sleeved

Recommended Posts

I waited a month. Now I eagerly drink my tall Americano every morning with cream. I'm

Not able to drink the whole thing but those first few sips are lovely.

I have a terrible habit of Cuban coffee or triple shots of espresso...so one drink a day would be terrible...lol

Lol I don't see what the big problem is as long as you're staying hydrated.

Ya know,

You would think with all of us having the same surgery, the surgeons could get together and decide what's what!

Sheesh!

My surgeon has as strict no caffeine rule. My choice through all this is to work my sleeve the way my doctor and his team has directed. So I have already given up caffeine so I am not going through withdraws afterwards. Maybe once I know I can keep up my hydration well I will consider it...lol

i'm allowed to drink coffee with just milk, and i'm only three days post op. i believe it has to be Decaf, though. it's weird to see how everyone's surgeons have different opinions.

My doctor told me a minimum of 3 months. I may be saying this wrong but from what I got of it he said the coffee pulls the blood away from your stimach and you need kore blood there while healing. I couldnt handle it anyways until a little after 4, and I am 5 months out now and its still rough

I did not give up caffeine because I work overnight and can't live without it. I did change to Avitae Water from diet coke. I miss my diet coke but this is just water with some caffeine in it! I drink like 2 a day and regular water the rest of the time. I don't like coffee so no problem but I feel for you guys that do!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
