loss of sex drive during liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Hey all! My boyfriend and I normally have a very healthy sex life about 3-4 times a day. Since starting the liquid diet I feel good but I just haven't felt "erotically charged". Have any of you experienced this?

I haven't had my liquid diet yet so I have no real advice or input. I just have to ask...3-4 times a DAY? That's intense. Maybe you meant a week? ;-)

When I started the liquid diet, all I wanted to do for the first 4-5 days was nap.

Alone.

A day, or a week? If you're losing your drive and doing it that many times a day....probably normal even off the liquid diet.< /p>

It's fairly common to feel listless and unenergetic and just downright uninterested in many things for the first week or so of the liquid diet. This happens because your body is switching from using carbs/sugar for energy to using fat for energy. It takes several days for your body to make enough of the enzymes and other things it needs to be able to burn enough fat. After a week or 10 days on the liquid diet, things will probably get back to normal.

Thanks all! No I def mean 3-4 times a day haha we are rather fiesty! But its been down to 4 times in the past 5 days and I just feel not really into it. I have ridden the bike at the gym 4 miles a day this week so mt energy is high but sex interest is just down. . I'm 5 days into the liquid diet now

I won't even comment on the 4-5 times a day! LOL I was happy with once a week! And I considered that a healthy sex life!

But to answer your question, during the liquid diet, I was not happy about the limitations. So I was somewhat angry at the world and had zero sex drive. And to be honest, I haven't gotten it back. It's been since December.

And with you still having sex more than 1x a week, I think youre doing ok :| just saying..

I don't know how you even have that much energy or time to begin with I think you will be okay probably just the diet that you have no extra energy.

Thanks! Yes I am single no kids :-) and good point but thanks for all the feedback!

Lol...right there with you - no kids, 3 times a day. Still preop. But have been doing cross fit to build up some endurance/strength and incorporate some healthy habits now before I add in the pressures of the sleeve. My first two weeks I was dead on my feet. But now I have a ton of energy all the time. Can't wait to be sleeved and drop some of this extra weight. I remember my skinny days with sex and can't wait to get back.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
