Scale broke, need a new one - which one to buy?

Recommended Posts

So Murphy's law seems to follow me everywhere.. Today is my 1 month post op and I was hoping to be at or under 200 lbs (onederland!) last Friday I was 204.4 and I've stayed off the scales until today. Well, the damn thing is broke. It's a Taylor CalMax (biggest loser version) that I paid $60 and only a few months old. I've tried everything, resetting it, changed battery, etc and nothing. It won't read any weight, and flashes and ERROR1 message each time.

So I need to buy a scale today to know if I've reached my goal, and wanted to know which scales you guys would recommend? I researched the Taylor brand and there are a ton of bad reviews, people having the same problem I am so I won't be buying one of those.

Suggestions please?

I would try every one the store has. Whichever one weighs you in less. That's the one to buy!!!

I hadn't had a scale in my house for years and years, 2 months prior to surgery! I was only weighed at the doctor's office. Do you realize HOW much your weight can go up (it seldom was ever less unless I was a month into a new diet!!) when you go to the doctor two or three times a year??!!! Anyway, I got a digital, weigh* watch*rs brand scale from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It is very accurate, in fact I weighed the same at my three year check up on my bariatric doctor's scale as I did on mine, which was nice!! It is nutty, up and down, up and down, when it needs a new battery!! LOL

THIS ONE.

http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Capacity-Recognition-Technology/dp/B004L6NTHU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379692514&sr=8-1&keywords=fat+scale

Stop looking just buy this one. BEST scale I've ever owned. Super consistent, looks great, works beautifully, easy to set up, and gives you fat, Water, muscle, and bone. Lovely to watch the fat percentage going down.

And 2377 reviews on Amazon and almost 5 stars. What more do you need? :P

Get your money back if at all possible....dannnggggg!

I have a scale but do not use it. Ironically I weight myself in the warehouse, we have scales calibrated to the half pound due to the material we sell and it is hella accurate.

See if you can't find an old-school one, like a doctor's scale and have it calibrated. If nothing else its fun to have. Have fun with it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
