caffeine free protein coffee?

Recommended Posts

So I was told NO caffeine after surgery, well before too. Now after surgery any fruity or vanilla and most chocolate Proteins or any Protein that has lactose is a NO-GO for me. I bought a tub of Syntrax nectar Cappuccino and have been drinking that every day but am getting TIRED of it- at least once a day for a month blah. I did add some vanilla Syntrax Nectar to some Decaf with some lactaid but it wasn't good enough to buy a giant tub.

I am tired of googling and reading, so does anybody know of a great caffeine free/lactose free product? Maybe even something with a lower level of lactose that i can experiment with.

And why do they make the yummy caffeine Proteins if we are supposed to avoid caffeine anyways?

I can have coffee pre and post op. But it all depends on what your NUT and Surgeon say. They might have reasons for that rule.

I know a lot of people like the Click Decaf Mocha Protein Powder. You can buy a sample here to see if you like it:

https://drinkclick.c...af-mocha-packet

I think the Protein content is not really high (15g/serving) and it does contain milk.

About Time has a mocha mint flavor, you can buy a single serving packet here to try it out:

http://tryabouttime....e-serving-pack/

About Time is all natural. It is lactose free. It appears to be caffeine free although they don't explicitly say so. I have tried the mocha mint and while it is not my all time favorite, I thought it was pretty good.

Why protein with caffeine? Lots of doctors permit caffeine . . . I have added caffeine back into my diet with the blessing of the RD in my surgeon's office.

I have been drinking GNC LEAN Protein SHAKES....it's lactose free and gives you 25g Protein, 170 Calories. I showed it to my surgeon and he approved it. So I don't drink anything else They have then in chocolate, strawberry, Vanilla

A little off topic, but instead of making a new thread figured I'd ask here .... can you microwave a Protein Drink after it's been made? I tried the Unjury chicken Soup this morning (OMG WIN!) and it's gotten cold and I was wondering if I could like nuke it for a minute?

I admit I have not given up caffeine. I gave up my diet coke the day before my surgery on may 1st. I now drink Water with caffeine in it. I have cut back a lot but could not give it up totally because I work overnight. I am an RN that works 12shifts. You need a little bust at 3am when you are trying to get a baby out of a woman! The water I get is great because it has no taste. If I want I can add any flavor to it. I miss my diet coke but I love my new sleeve and 90 lbs loss more!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
