I'm 9 weeks out and have only lost 19lbs. What am I doing wrong? I can eat a whole cup of Soup too!

The Soup isn't too shocking, it's liquid, similar to yogurt. I can eat far more yogurt than dense Protein. I ate a 5.3oz cup of yogurt this morning and was still hungry. For lunch I ate 2-2.5oz of meat and was full for hours. I can drink way over a cup an hour of Water and I don't eat soup but if I did it would be the same. If you are following your "rules" sticking to the consistency recommended, starting with protein and eating vegetables if still hungry, taking your time, drinking a minimum of 65oz of water a day and taking in a minimum of 60g of protein a day and most importantly avoiding sliders than you are good. Maybe your loss isn't what you hoped for, but even if you are losing 2# a week you are doing great. Just stay consistent, watch your empty calories and sliders, stay hydrated and follow your rules. If you have access to a nutritionist utilize them, document on my fitness pal and get friends off here so you can see their food journals.

You aren't a slow loser...you are a normal loser. The weight didn't come on overnight, and it will not come off overnight either. You have lost 19 pounds! That is wonderful! Slow and steady wins the race. Stop worrying about the numbers as this will contribute to losing even slower. Stress helps us hold onto weight even more. You will get there. Just be patient! :) it adds up so quickly and before you know it you will be a skinny mini! :) good luck!

with Soup you should eat the liquid portion separate (by at least 30 minutes) from the solids. Otherwise it becomes a slider food.< /p>

Don't worry stick with the program like everyone is saying. Always eat your dense Proteins first. I tend to stay away from Soup and things that I know I can eat a lot of like popcorn, stuff like this doesn't fill you up. But ... if I eat 2-3 oz of chicken, beef, or seafood I am full for hours. I lose slowly too but... it is coming off, I never managed to lose this much on my own. Go sleeve!

Thanks everyone for ur thoughts and suggestions. I never thought of Soup as a slider but it makes perfect sense. I'm just thinking I lost 13lbs preop in 9 days and 19 in 9 weeks. So I feel I should have lost more these past few weeks.

I just posted this on another thread but I was getting really disheartened about my slow loss so I decided to calculate my BMI. Surgery was on May 7 and my BMI was 38. Today my BMI is 31. I'm only 2 points away from dally into the Obese category instead of the Morbidly Obese category where I have spent most of my life.

That makes me happy and also shows things are changing.

What is a slider food?

Slider food is stuff that is calorie rich and does not fill you up... chips, Cookies, donuts. They can "defeat the sleeve"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
