Ok I deliver dairy products to a convenient store chain . My 70 yr old mother and my wife get diarrhea when they drink milk . Since the regular milk made them sick they changed to lactaid .

One day I brought some 2% in a carton instead of a plastic container . Well , both my mother and wife drank some of the milk I brought in the carton . Amazingly , neither got sick and up to this day they both drink regular milk but only out of a carton . It might be worth a try : )

I bought some samples of whey-free Protein Powder and some dairy free bars today. I am pretty sure this is a dairy issue. Since whey is milk and I'm constantly consuming it between the shakes and bars, this has to be the problem. I took a Lactaid pill then ate about 1/4th of a Quest bar this morning. 30 minutes later, my intestines started getting rumbly and I needed the bathroom quick. Lactaid isn't doing the job for me, though I know it helps many of us with dairy problems. I'm so sad because I am going to have a hard time getting the Protein requirements met without dairy products. Being sick and terribly gassy most of the day is worse though. I hope I can get this under control.

All of you lactose Intolerant people, I have a simple solution for you. Go get some lactaid pills at the store, and take two along with your first sip of the shake, and you should be good to go. I've been lactose intolerant for years and this is what I do. It works.

I'm 8 weeks post op and over the past couple of weeks I have developed bowel issues with my chocolate Protein Shakes that I drink on the way to work. I can drink the vanilla and Cookies n creme with no issues. Some days I think my sleeve is just being picky.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
