Went for my Psyc eval today and passed. He said he has never had someone finish the test so fast or give better answers!!! Our office sends approvals to insurance on Thursdays. He is finishing up the note and I'm hoping she can submit tomorrow. So excited.

Still amazes me that some people have to take test during their psych evals and some don't. Mine was only a discussion session for about 45 minutes, with a few meditation and relaxation techniques to help cope with stress, as not to fall to food during those times.

Glad you did well...

I agree. How is there not a standard for approving someone for the surgery? I was nervous about the questions he may ask and then some of the questions on the test were so dumb, but it was easy.

I had to fill out two pages. He asked me about my history and I got a mini lecture. I was in and out within 20 minutes.

What was the lecture he gave you? Mine discussed my results with and talked about me being a good candidate mentally. It's funny how true and false tells him about my little mind.

So what happens if the psych determines you are a raving lunatic ?

He basically said this was life changing and I need to make sure that I am prepared for it.

I am by-polar and have a shrink, my surgeon still sent me for a psych eval, to another doctor just to make sure I was ready for this. I had a 30 minute interview and had a written test with about 50 questions. Oh I passed no problems.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
