kimclow08 8 Posted September 23, 2013 I have my first meeting with my NUT on October 2nd. I am so excited. I am hoping to have a surgery date by spring break of next year. That's early April.
MzGee 65 Posted September 23, 2013 My goal is 100lbs. Good luck!! Is that what they want you to lose on the 6 month diet? Or after you have your WLS?
inmatchesout 3 Posted September 23, 2013 I'm sure the 100 lbs is after wls. I was told I need to lose 10% of the total I need to lose before surgery. I need to lose 90-100 lbs so 9-10 lbs. That won't be a problem during my 2 week liquid diet.....
MzGee 65 Posted November 10, 2013 Anyone with tips ? I am currently on the insurance mandatory diet for 6 months.
Arts137 1,811 Posted November 10, 2013 Again, my story. Like most I had a six month program before insurance approval. Like most I was pissed... "why am I wasting my time?" But somewhere early I 'gave up' and realized that this 'sleeve thing' means I have to change... not for a little while but forever'. I will need to think about more than "where's the food", "I like the food", "any snacks", 'oh I can get food with that'... And the classes were helpful... SO... maybe work towards the following goals: -- reduce caffine to zero before surgery -- reduce carbonation / carbonated drinks to zero before surgery -- have a daily mean plan, and follow it -- be as active as you can be -- reduce liquids with meals -- stop smoking!!! -- no eating after your evening meals Do what you can, and the above is not true for all, it's just what I did. And I lost 50# before surgery... almost by accident... (and 100# so far all together with another 100# to go). 1 macman reacted to this
macman 603 Posted November 10, 2013 Good advice!! I have been in a 6 month plan as well. For me, I had to measure, weigh and track my food intake so I could relearn about portion sizes and what I should be eating. Adding daily exercise has also been a big boost to my pre op weight loss. I am just finishing up my plan and have lost 35 pounds in the process. The 6 months were great for me, I learned a lot. I have an appointment with the surgeon next week.
