October 1 Surgery Date

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow begins the first day of the rest of my life with my all day educational seminar. I am super excited but sometimes get a little overwhelmed thinking about all of the lifestyle changes. When I began my required 6 months o medically supervised doctor appointments on March 18, I never dreamed the time would fly by so quickly. My insurance required a lot of "jumping through hoops" but everything was submitted on a Tuesday morning and I was approved on that Wednesday afternoon! I was expecting it to take between 2 weeks and 2 months. So I'm actually ahead of what I planned. I have several friends who have had tremendous success with the sleeve which excites me even more!! Praying that I can stick to this pre-op diet and make necessary life changes.

Thank you. Weight loss surgery is something I thought about 20+ years ago but did not feel comfortable doing the gastric bypass. Looking back I regret all the fun times I have missed out with my children but so looking forward to making wonderful "active" memories with my grandsons!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
