Well I'm sitting in my hospital room writing this with the grogginess of the pain meds but the biggest smile ever! I'm so happy my new journey has began ! Pain and nausea coming out of surgery was HELL! But I burped about 10 times and then continually punched my pain med button! Now that I'm controlling my pain its not so bad and I'm so excited for the rest of my life!!

Hey girl hey!!! I just got sleeved also and I am TOO excited! Sorry to hear about ur pain tho, I haven't had much at all, I guess because they put me directly on the pain meds. But hang in girly, and just remember that the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single foot step. And u will be successful, even if that foot step is gassy and painful! Lol ;-)

Well ladies its day 4 after surgery! Things have finally started to work out! Today has been the best day so far! I actually woke up with an appetite! Had a small Protein Shake and drank about 3/4 cup and kept it down with NO NAUSEA! Yesterday I threw up 4 times! Not fun with a newly stapled stomach and incisions! I had to call the doctors office to have them prescribe some anti nausea meds and switch me from the liquid pain meds to a smaller pill! This I think made a huge difference! For anyone who is about to go through this please be prepared for the few rough days after being discharged. I don't want to try and sugar coat any of this because you need to be mentally prepared for the worst! Ok enough rambling!

How did the small pill go down? I'm not a fan of liquid meds.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
