I cannot believe the has come for my surgery. I had a failed lap band in 5/05 and removed 12/12. Wednesday is the big day for VSG. My only concerns are excess skin and social eating. I know that I can have the excess skin removed which would probably just be a Tummy Tuck. As far as a social eating I worry about going out on dates and probably having to share that I've had weight-loss surgery with the fact that I'll be eating so little. I know I need to do this since I have a long list of medical conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc... So I have the presurgical jitters I'm hoping that all will go well I know that everything is in the Lords hand I just hope and pray that nothing goes wrong and I feel good about my choice I'm just nervous

Just breathe and tell yourself that everything is all about to be a downhill roll. You got this!

I'm happy to tell you that you're perfectly...normal! If you didn't have pre-surgery jitters then I'd be concerned.

Take one day at a time and you'll be just fine. I'll admit the social eating was a concern for me as well. I'm in medical sales and it seems like that's all we do sometimes, but you'll figure out what works for you. Soups and high Protein appetizers are awesome. And the further out you get the more you can eat...just learn to make healthy choices early on. Good luck and I'll say a prayer for you. Keep us posted!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
