Starting process... Switching insurance

Recommended Posts

Hi. We currently have Cigna... Worst ever! So my hubby is willing to switch and have 20-30 more a month out of his check to make it easier for me. Has anyone done this? Will there be a problem starting the process with one and switching to another? Thanks.

Why do you consider CiGNA "the worst"?

switching insurance might make you start all over again, as every insurance company has their own policy. You may want to understand this before the switch. What insurance does your husband have?

Why don't you like Cigna? I have Cigna and have had several employees get approval with no problems. I've gone through my 3 months supervised PCP visits and so far what they require isn't painful at all.

For our area they do not cover any phys eval providers. I would have to do out of network and all the drs want Cigna to fill out the paper work and Cigna wants drs. The co pays are very high as well even though we have met the deductible.

I am just starting out ... The new books r coming out so I'm going to see what Independent health offers. The specialty drs that are covered are few and far between.

I really think it has to do with the package your employer chose with CIGNA, and possibly the area you live in. My CIGNA is great and although I'm nervous about the approval part, everything up until now has been easy.

Good luck to you!

I totally agree with you! But I got great news I don't have to use their suggest phys eval. I go to someone who my insurance carries and they can do it! That made made my day yesterday!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
