Ok. Sorry for the mix up! :-) How was the gastric bypass? Did it take long to recover? If you don't mind me asking.

Took about three weeks and I have no regrets. 106 down!

Hi. I had my initial appointment with Dr. Goldstein on 5-30-13. From his seminars, it is clear he favors Lab Band, but he does Sleeves also. I completed my check list around the end of August, my insurance (Horizon NJ Health, plan D) approved my surgery on the first request. My Sleeved is scheduled for 11-19-13. My insurance covered everything except for the nutritionist and Physc clearance. I'm both excited and nervous. After my last appointment with Dr. Goldstein he really made me fill at ease and I trust him as my surgeon.

how hard was it to switch to Dr Neff.?

.. because I was looking into switching because of the experience with the sleeve thing also and now that Dr Goldstein switched practices..... I believe he is in the same practice as Dr Neff... So i honestly thought it might be easier now with them being associates.

How did you like Dr. Goldstein an EVA?

@@Pinkgirl1234 Dr Goldstein is very good. I haven't had a problem him so far. But he is the type of doctor who likes everything do to the t. Which is very good. Just stay on Eva because she will be the one sending all your paperwork. Make you get copies of all your paperwork just in case Eva never gets them. Ask all the questions you and don't be afraid to ask. I have my surgery on August 26 with him. If you any other questions I havr a private group with a lot of people who also had Dr Goldstein. https://www.facebook.com/groups/AprilsBariatricSurgery/

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
