Question for PCOS patients!

Recommended Posts

I am ready to start trying for a baby! Do you think I should just stop BC or go straight to a fertility doctor? I'd like to think that I'll be able to get pregnant with ease but I don't know exactly what happens with our diagnosis once we lose all the weight... Advice please!

Just quit the BC and try, before going to a fertility doctor. Cause all they're going to do is tell you to try for a few more months on your own. Anyway I had PCOS and was told it would be so hard for me to have kids. Apparently not after I got the sleeved! I got pregnant 5 months post op lol. And I'm doing just fine .

wow This is great news!

Ive been trying to get pregnant for over 8 years now and no luck! I even did clomid treatments and nothing happen!

Ive been sleeved for a lil over two months! The doctor wants me to get on birth control now. One of the reasons I got sleeved was to be able to get pregnant. Im 38 years old and my hubby is 42...we are so ready for a new baby!

Did you do OPK testing to check to see if you were ovulating? Now that Im post op my ovulation signs are so strong and obvious! Im probably fertile but were using condoms! BORING ahahaa!

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Keep us posted!

Hey how are you feeling?

Thanks ladies! I didn't do no testing.. But let's just say I went from having one period a year to having a period every month after surgery. Then out of the blues I got pregnant. Also, during one of my ultrasounds I no longer had cyst in my ovaries too. Not saying I am completely over PCOS (which we'll never know) but I'm sure fertile now :) I'm 4 wks away from my due date & this pregnancy journey has been great thus far :) good luck to you both.

Yes, just quit birth control. I have PCOS and have only had one period per year for the last 15+years. Last baby was conceived using all the fertility methods known to man. I'm 127 lbs down and 10 months out. I'm also 11 weeks pregnant with twins! No fertility meds. I have had a regular 28-30 day cycle since the first month after surgery. Good luck ladies. This surgery is a miracle in more than one way!

I'm super excited for you!! I'm 30 weeks this week and I can't wait! How much have you gained? I haven't gained a single lb with these twins but I know they're growing because I feel them soooo much !

How old are you? You may not want to wait. After 32, if you've had difficulty in the past, I always recommend seeing a specialist. When you're ready, come off BC and give it a try! Track your periods and have lots of sex about 2 weeks prior to your cycle. And make an appt for a fertility specialist too. It's worth it! Good luck!

Also, PCOS is often a product of being overweight. You might have an easier time now that the weight is off. FYI!

I was diagnosed with PCOS and couldn't get pregnant for the life of me. even though we tried. But now, nearly 7 months out from surgery, i'm 5 weeks pregnant! I do have a 6 year old son, but we didn't really want so much time between children, but it happened, and he is very excited about the baby. Just stop the BC and give it a try for a few months. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
